Jimmy Kimmel had no plans to host the Oscars next year, but recent comments from former President Donald Trump on Truth Social might have changed his mind.
Trump's scathing remarks about Kimmel being "made to look like a FOOL" and labeled as the "WORST HOST EVER OF THE ONCE VAUNTED ACADEMY AWARDS" amused Kimmel. Responding with humor, Kimmel joked, "I don’t know. That must be why they asked me to host the show again next year. Which I wasn’t planning to do but now I might." He added a playful suggestion for Trump to watch the show on the TV in the rec room at Riker's Island with the other inmates.
Having hosted the Oscars twice in recent years, in addition to back-to-back hosting duties in 2017 and 2018, Kimmel has been approached to return for the upcoming event on March 2, 2025, and is now considering the offer.
Kimmel also found amusement in Trump's mistake, wherein he confused Kimmel with Al Pacino while mentioning the announcement of the Best Picture award.
Furthermore, Kimmel took a jab at Will Smith's controversial attack on Chris Rock at the Oscars. He sarcastically recounted how Smith's wife and management supposedly begged him not to read Trump's post, implying that they were pleading with him to avoid stirring controversy. However, Kimmel clarified that he made the decision to address Trump's post independently and dismissed any false narratives about his wife's involvement, vehemently asserting, "And by the way – keep my wife’s name out of your f-ing mouth."
